Ounce counters, rejoice: You no longer need to toil under the weight of brutally heavy eyewear. Ditch your Oakleys, or Smiths, or Spys, and tape your way to optical protection from the sun’s harmful rays with disposable tape sunglasses from designers Azumi & David. Worried about crushing your glasses in your pack? You won’t have to if it comes on a roll of tape!

Okay, these tape-on sunglasses come from the land of high fashion rather than technical outdoor apparel, but we all know one titanium-spork-using ultralight fiend who’s gotta be stoked about seriously cutting down on his specs weight. What’s more, he or she can go double-duty and wrap the sunglass tape around his or her Nalgene or trekking pole, duct-tape style. Broken tent pole? Sunglass tape! Noontime sun on an exposed glacier? Sunglass tape!

It’s practically a miracle, folks. Of course, keep in mind that since these were designed for style, they probably aren’t polarized, and we can’t promise that they’ll be effective at blocking UV rays at all. We also can’t promise that you won’t look like someone’s nightmare version of a Eurotrash future.

Then again…it’s sunglass tape!
