Three men remain missing two days after a large mudslide struck Collbran, a remote town in western Colorado.
7 News Denver reports that emergency personnel have had to pause efforts to find Clancy Nichols, 51, Danny Nichols, 24, and Wes Hawkins, 46, due to unstable conditions in the debris field, which consists of timber, rocks, snow, dirt and mud. The 2-to-3 mile wide mudslide, triggered by heavy rains earlier in the week, is 250 feet deep in some areas.
Search crews plan to focus on the more stable side edges of the slide, where the mud is just 20 to 30 feet deep.
