The Busiest Week So Far

Week three of the Get Out More Tour was the busiest week we have had so far.

Week three of the Get Out More Tour was the busiest week we have had so far. We had four events in four days all around the Greater Denver Area.

We made Boulder home-base for the week. The Backpacker offices are headquartered in Boulder as well, so it was a good opportunity to meet a bunch of the magazine’s staff while we checked in with our mothership.

Tuesday began our run of events in Fort Collins. Our presentation was at JAX Outdoors, a huge outdoor retail store that literally has anything you could ever want for the outdoors. It’s so big and has so much stuff that we gave our presentation in an indoor archery range – because they have one of those. In Fort Collins we were also able to meet up with a rep from Goal Zero and GSI, who provided great support to our event.

The next event was in Lone Tree, at what has to be the largest Eddie Bauer store in the world. I’m not exaggerating when I say that you could make at least four stores out of this one – it was simply huge. We had a good turnout for the event – over 40 people in all – and nearly everyone went home with some new gear.

The following night, it was off to Colorado Springs and our next Eddie Bauer store. The audience was fantastic and has been our most engaged audience to date. There was a family in the audience that was planning their first family backpacking trip for the summer, and they came to the event to learn a little more about being in the backcountry before they set out. Hearing them talk about their trip and the excitement they had made Kim and I realize how much of a difference the Get Out More Tour can make.

Friday was our busiest day of the week. We shot videos in the morning (I’ll be sure to share the link to them when they are on the website) then had a presentation at Zeal Optics later that night. The audience was great at Zeal – it was standing room only – and seeing the faces of Backpacker staff at the event was great.

We’re off to Oklahoma City, OK and Springdale, AR this week. We’re excited because neither Kim nor I have been to either Oklahoma or Arkansas and we’ll have some time to explore the Ozarks after our Springdale event (we’re hoping that we get some good hiking weather!).

We hope to see you at an event near you soon. Happy hiking!
