If you’re a climber, you know nothing comes close to the feeling of putting hand and foot to rock, gritting your teeth, and fighting your fears up the face of a mountainside. But watching people do the same (and take ridiculous falls while they’re at) from the safety of a darkened theater comes in a close second.

The 3rd Reel Rock Tour film festival kicks off this Wednesday with a premiere at the Boulder Theatre here in Colorado, but luckily you don’t have to live in Mecca for climbers to get in on the action. Throughout September and October, the Reel Rock Tour will bring the latest and greatest in climbing flicks to practically every state in the nation. I defy you to not find a town within driving distance.

Choice films include Grand Canyon Walls, which follows climbing’s first couple Beth Rodden and Tommy Caldwell as they look for new lines in the GC, and feature film The Sharp End, which showcases Dean Potter, Steph Davis, Alex Honnold, Mike Patz, Lisa Rands, and a ton of others tackling climbs that would make the hardest of hard men pee their pantaloons. Check out the trailer below:

Winners of the Reel Rock online contest categories of Funniest and Most Inspiring film will also get a screening at each of the tour dates. Check the site to see when Reel Rock comes to a theater near you.
