Salazar waives entrance fees for all national parks during National Parks Week

Mark your calendars, frugal hikers—Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is busting out the freebies again. The Park Service will waive fees for all 392 units in celebration of National Park Week, April 17-25. That means you won’t have to fret with borrowing your roommate’s pass and explaining to the entrance station ranger how you can be a guy with the name “Melissa” or a girl with the name “Herbert.”
Additionally, the NPS will celebrate by offering special offers on tours, lodging, concessions, and souvenirs. Rangers will conduct tours and kiddies who participate in Junior Ranger Day on April 24 get a certificate, patch, or pin.
Here’s the big man himself:
“We are rolling out the red carpet and inviting everyone to visit a national park and help celebrate National Park Week,” said Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. “Parks are fun and affordable destinations and great places to engage in healthy, outdoor activities, whether for a few hours or a few days.”
