“Jobless recovery” still wracking your wallet? That’s still no excuse not to hit up a national park. Just in time to help your broke self, the National Park service announced its free admission days for 2011. The remaining fee-free days are (drumroll, please):

  • April 16-24

    (National Park Week)
  • June 21

    (First day of summer)
  • September 24

    (Public Lands Day)
  • November 11-13

    (Veterans Day weekend)

Park officials note that local concessionaires may offer companion deals for food, drink, and that buffalo-stamped towel you’ve always pined for.

Get planning, destitute hikers! And since you’re already at BACKPACKER.com, you can get a head start by selecting a park from the drop down list at the top of this page.
