Marmot will become the latest outdoor brand to sell its clothing in plus sizes, the company said this week.

Starting next spring, the company will sell two jackets, five shirts, and three pairs of pants in sizes up to 3X for tops and 22 in bottoms. More styles, as well as expanded men’s sizing, will launch in the fall.

Marmot Brand Director Chris Harges said the change was largely driven by interest from retailers.

“Dealers have asked for this,” he told SNEWS. “As we thought about its viability, it’s not as if it’s wholly getting pushed from the brand side. We’ve had dealers both on the specialty and department store sides of the business say, hey is this available?”

The change is part of a broader push in the outdoor industry for inclusion of different body types, with brands from PrAna to Patagonia offering a wider range of sizes.
