Search efforts continued Monday for a 60-year-old hiker missing on Mt. Whitney.

The Los Angeles Timesreports that Inyo County search-and-rescue crews are combing the 14,505-ft. peak for John Likely of Dumont, N.J. Likely was last seen on Saturday, when he became separated from his group while descending the mountain at a slower pace. His hiking partners waited for him at Outpost Camp, where they planned to spend the night, but Likely never arrived.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter has been called in to assist in the search.
