Ah, weddings: Who doesn’t like getting hauled across the country every summer to make inevitable mistakes in front of a bunch of strangers on a day celebrating holy matrimony? Let’s face it—weddings are often too serious. Is it really so bad to liven up the proceedings with a fully-clothed dip in the punch bowl?
BACKPACKER reader Shawna Lidsky probably had the greatest wedding ever, if her bridesmaids had anything to say about it.
“Recently my girls treated me to the most unique bachelorette day ever! We hiked the third-highest peak in Vermont (Camels Hump) wearing old bridesmaids dresses. You know… the one that’s been hanging in your closet for years… the one the bride promised you’d wear again! Several of us are big hikers, others are not! I hiked in a wedding dress that they found at the Salvation Army along with
a pink boa and tiara to match.”
