Visitors come to Alaska‘s Katmai National Park hoping to see bears—but not usually this close.
Geoffrey Glassner was hiking near his camp in Katmai when he spotted a sow and her two cubs trailing him. Glassner, however, kept his cool, pulling out his camera and filming the group as he backed down the path.
“The cubs were out in front of mom and I was interested in them,” he said in an interview with Inside Edition. “My biggest fear was that they would get close to me and mama bear thought I was a threat and would attack me.”
Fortunately for Glassner, that didn’t happen. Instead, the bears finally veered off trail to take a dip in nearby Naknek Lake.
