Get Out More 2014 Tour Stop 1 2

Last Friday the 2014 Get Out More Tour officially began at Mountain Supply Outfitters in Bend, Oregon! There was a great turnout for the event, thanks to the local hiking club that brought out many of their members, and we had 112 people in attendance for our very first presentation. After some pre-show nerves from us, the event was a huge success and most of the people in the audience went home with some great new – and free! – gear.

Our first weekend on tour also included the Subaru Winterfest event that was held on Mt. Bachelor. Those who arrived early for the event kickoff were rewarded for their efforts with over a foot of fresh powder on the mountain. There was a great turnout for the event, and hundreds of people stopped by the Backpacker and Ski Magazine tent to pick up some free swag, to enter into the gear giveaways that were being held all day long, and to sign up to ski with pro skier Colter Hinchliffe.

One of the many highlights of the day was when Colter led a group of kids down the mountain, providing tips, advice, and encouragement to the future pros. All of the kids were excited with the opportunity to take a run with a professional, and one of the happy skiers even went home with a signed winter helmet thanks to Colter.

Subaru put on a great event and offered some great giveaways, including an avalanche rescue kit, new skis, and a new snowboard. And the free hot cocoa was popular with everyone who walked by. We were happy we could be a part of the event and let our Subaru (lovingly named Amy) hang out with some of her Subi-cousins. Now we are off to Boise for our next event at Cascade Outfitters (4/1 at 7 p.m.), then it’s on to the Eddie Bauer in Murray, Utah (4/3 at 6 p.m.) and a week of events in Colorado in Fort Collins, Lone Tree, Colorado Springs, and Boulder. We hope to see you in the audience soon!
