Jamie Lambert recently completed a 3,000-mile thru-hike on the Continental Divide Trail. The terrain was as challenging as it was varied, and her gear had to rise to the occasion. Whether she’s hiking from Mexico to Canada or out for the weekend, one stove system brand stands out as her favorite: Jetboil.
Jetboil has been a reliable companion throughout Lambert’s adventures, adding ease and comfort to her daily routine. “It’s the simple things on the trail that can make your long days special,” she said. From impromptu coffee chats with her trail family to making warm meals at the end of the day, even when she was exhausted, her Jetboil kept on giving.

It’s not easy to make a good thing better, but that’s exactly what happened, thanks to some exciting upgrades to the Jetboil Flash 1.0L Fast Boil System.
Jetboil’s principal engineer Mike Hebert explained that updates to the Flash system are all about making it even easier to use. While Jetboil has always been known for its approachable designs, Hebert noted that some new users experienced uncertainty around the ignition-process timing.
“Our goal was to create a streamlined, ultraintuitive interface,” Hebert said. “With just a quick, single rotation of the valve control—now with the ignition integrated right into that motion—there’s no guesswork. The process is as simple and intuitive as it gets. One quick turn, and your stove is lit.”

The valve control is similar to many home stoves, requiring just a half turn counterclockwise to get things cooking. Hebert explained that the new design’s main advantage is its simplicity—the location and function of the valve control are clearly marked. A ceramic encasement also shields the ignition from the wind, ensuring reliable performance even in gusty weather.
Updates to the Flash also include several enhancements: improved pot-to-burner locking with clear visual cues, a color-coded easy grip zone on the handle so you always know where to grab, and a redesigned lid that makes pouring hot liquids easier.

Weighing in at just 13.1 ounces and featuring a 32-ounce capacity, the Jetboil Flash can bring 16 ounces of water to a lighting-fast boil. And the system is still compatible with all your favorite Jetboil accessories, including the Silicone Coffee Press, Hanging Kit 2.0, Pot Support 2.0, Summit Skillet, 1.5L Ceramic Cook Pot, TrailWare, and TrailSpoon.
Lambert praised the improvements to the Flash, especially the half-turn dial and clearly marked temperature control, noting that they make operating the Jetboil ten times easier. She also loved how the system allows her to enjoy a warm meal quickly and easily in the backcountry.
After all, who doesn’t enjoy dinner with a view?
