There's a Snake in My Bivy!
In a bivy, what are the chances of a rattler crawling in with me and/or of me rolling over on one with my arms and torso bare? I'm not sleeping well with this!

Answer:
Rarely have I read about a snake crawling into a sleeping bag with someone. It might have happened. I know for sure that rattlesnakes have no great fondness for humans. They go out of their way to avoid us.
If it did happen, it was most likely because the night grew unseasonably cold and the snake was looking for warmth. I’m willing to bet you’ll be okay.
But for an extra measure of safety, sleep on a wide ground cloth. Snakes are not particularly fond of slithering across plastic. –BUCK
