We’ve seen Gore-Tex in jackets, boots, gloves and more. But Gore-Tex in goggles is a new one by us. Sweet Protection’s Interstellar Goggle, which we had a chance to try out at Outdoor Retailer Snow Show, incorporates a number of new technologies, including fog-free lenses thanks to a Gore membrane and Protective Vent system. The result is a lens that can withstand rapid changes in atmospheric pressure (like those that skiers dropping a big pitch experience) without distorting visibility. The company’s signature lenses boast enhanced contrast and a field of vision that they claim 25% wider than competing goggles.

When it’s time to change lenses, Sweet Protection’s ExcenterLock mechanism incorporates magnetized frames with secure clasps that are easy to manage with one hand. The ExcenterLock system is designed to keep lenses secure in high-impact crashes, while maintaining the convenience of magnets. Strategically placed 5mm rims also ensure that lenses can be exchanged without risk of smudging up the surface with fingerprints. Bonus: The company says its sculpted toric lens—the first in a ski goggle—will increase contrast and reduce glare on the slopes.

The Sweet Protection Interstellar Goggle will be available for purchase this fall.
