Review: Sufferfest FKT Pale Ale

With its added electrolytes, FKT could be your new post-workout brew.

The post-workout beer is a time-honored tradition, but usually, we drink it more for flavor than recovery. Sufferfest, a new San Francisco-based brewer, is hoping to give athletes both with its new FKT, a pale ale with that supplements its natural carbs with added electrolytes and vitamin C.

We paired a can of FKT with our lunchtime run on the paved Boulder Creek Path. The pale ale has a light bitterness from Citra, Azacca, and Magnum hops. Blackcurrant added an extra tartness to the brew, and while we could taste the added salt, it wasn’t overpowering. It went down easy enough that a few of our editors opted to add another can to their running backpacks for a mid-exercise quaff. (Note: tasty, but not recommended.)
