Why do I get the shivers about 20 mins after along, hard winter hike, even after changing into dry clothes and blasting the heat? What can I do to prevent this?

Here is guess one: Hard exercise may be exhausting your stored energy. With less than enough energy, your body cannot make heat fast enough to warm up at the rate it wants to warm up. So

you shiver to boost heat production. Try eating a quick energy snack at the

end of a hard hike.

Here is guess two: “Blasting the heat” can drive cold peripheral blood quickly into your core. You get an afterdrop effect. Your core temp drops in response to too much exterior heat. You shiver to warm

back up. Try changing into dry clothes, eating and hydrating, and avoiding a the blast.
