Poison Ivy is Hairy

My dog joins me on many of my hiking trips. Is there anything short of giving her a bath that will remove the oils from poison oak/ivy?

Answer:

I know of nothing that will remove the oily resin, urushiol, from the hair of dogs except a bath. The bath water should be cool and the soap soft, such as dish soap, for best results. A bath of about 10 minutes duration should do the job.
