Dear Gregory,
I don’t know of any magical bowls you can eat out of that will keep your goulash hot, but I do have a couple of simple tips. If you’re eating a pre-packaged dehydrated or freeze-dried meal, you could invest in an insulated pouch. These are handy for a couple reasons: by trapping the heat inside, they not only rehydrate your food faster, but you can eat right out of the pouch and it will stay warmer longer. I’ve used these with great success: www.freezerbagcooking.com/fbcfabriccozies.htm
If your cheffing up something right in your pot, you can always pop it back on the burner for a quick warm up if it gets cold before you finish. As for cold weather dish duty, pour an inch or so of water into your pot, add a couple handfuls of snow, and heat it over your stove, adding more water or snow, so the frozen food melts off the pot. If you’re brave, drink the hot water, floaters and all. But really, it’s easiest if you just do the dishes before leftovers get frozen.
