One third of the sweat glands in your feet are on the soles, but until recently, moisture was always vented out the tops of the shoes. Gore’s Surround waterproof/breathable technology airs out the bottom of your feet by adding venting to the sole of the shoe via a water-resistant spacer placed just underneath the insole. As you walk, vapor leaves the shoe, enters the spacer, and gets pushed out through ventilation outlets usually located on the sides of the shoe. For more info go to gore-tex.com/surround.
