How Can I Minimize Knee Pain?

I've tried different boots, inserts, socks, and lightening my load, but I still seem to get overuse pain in my knees very early in my hikes. What else can I do to minimize knee pain?

Answer:

Well, here’s one more way to reduce knee stress, and thus the pain: Strengthen the muscles that support your knees. I recommend leg extensions and flexions, starting with a weight light enough to allow you to do sets of 30 reps. Do at least three sets per workout, and increase the weight as you are able. With good muscle support in the knees, overuse pain is less likely.
