Our take The Sprout packs big versatility into a small package. It’s a smidge smaller than a closed fist, and our testers found that its magnetic lanyard attachment made it easy to affix to tent ceilings, camp chairs, a car’s rear hatch, and even a portable grill. “You don’t have to fuss with any carabiners or knots to move it from place to place. Just unclip the lanyard and go,” one tester says. The Sprout’s 100 lumens fills tents with ease and is enough to illuminate a camp kitchen, and its single button lets you dial in your desired brightness. Three AAA batteries provide 60 hours of juice on the lowest setting and five hours on high.
Trail cred “Even on the lowest setting, the Sprout filled our 12-by-12-foot bug shelter with light and allowed us to play a game of cards without squinting,” one tester says.
