Question:
The plastic buckle on my pack’s hip-belt slips. Is there a way to make it stay in place, or a better buckle? I have to cinch the belt really tight to keep it on my hips, but in 20 minutes or less, I’m adjusting it again.

Answer:
Most likely the cause is that the webbing on the belt and the buckle do not have a happy marriage. Sometimes cheap buckles are used on budget packs. You could try replacing it with a new buckle found at any outdoor shop; it will set you back only a buck or two depending on the size. If that doesn’t work, there’s always duct tape.
