Oyuki Haika

The most comfortable gloves from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

Brand: Oyuki

Model: Haika

None

This liner-shell combo was made for high-output laps and marathon sessions in the backcountry. The shell is flexible and low-bulk enough for all-day wear, thanks to a supple goatskin outer and kangaroo leather palm (just as soft, but tougher and more expensive). It also has external stitching and fully capped fingertips, which boost dexterity by moving seams out of the way. A soft tricot lining adds a touch of insulation and makes the shell comfortable enough to wear alone on moderate days. The midweight liner has leather patches to ward off holes in the highest-use areas, and we found it warm enough to wear by itself into the 30s. Tradeoff: The Haika isn’t waterproof, but the shell’s leather is naturally water-resistant.

TRAIL CRED

“It feels like a classic, leather driving glove, but the Haika shrugged off brambles, rocks, and ski edges like a champ,” says a Colorado-based tester. “Plus, it looks awesome.”

Weight: 8.4 oz.

Sizes: S-XL
