Dynafit TLT 3L

Lightest shell from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

Brand: Dynafit

Model: TLT 3L

None

If light and fast is your mantra, this is your shell. The TLT is stripped down to the basics, dispensing with extra features in favor of softball-size packability. The slim cut assumes you’ll be making enough heat to skip bulky layers, and the three-layer fabric breathes well. “While snowshoeing with an overnight pack up in Montana’s Bitterroot Mountains, with temps in the mid-30s, it kept me from getting totally soaked in sweat over just a baselayer,” one tester says.

THE DETAILS

The TLT has a helmet-compatible hood and pack-friendly hand pockets that fit a 1-liter water bottle. Stretchy nylon fabric let us reach for holds at Vedauwoo in Wyoming . Ding: Wind can sneak up the non-adjustable hem.

TRAIL CRED

“On a trip into Canada’s Booming Ice Chasm, some of my companions were wear- ing PVC suits. But despite full-body contact with dripping ice, I stayed dry with this jacket,” reports a tester.

Weight: 11 oz.

Sizes: Men’s XS-XL, Women’s XS-XL
