Stocking Round Whitefish in ADK Deemed Successful

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said the round whitefish may be moved from endangered to threatened.

Round whitefish may soon be moved off the endangered species list, thanks to efforts by the Rare Fish Unit of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Since stocking began in 2000 in the Adirondacks, the survival rate has been high.
