Happy weekend, Denver hikers!

Another rainy weekend is on deck for Denver and the Front Range, with some surprise May snow up in the mountains! We’re looking at either rain or snow across almost the entire state through Sunday, so should you choose to venture out for overnights, be sure to pack your Gore-Tex and rainfly.

Your best bet for dry weather and trails this weekend is early Sunday morning. Head to Boulder’s foothills or trails in the Morrison and Red Rocks area for the break in the weather early on Sunday. Get out first thing and plan to quit early, since thundershowers will be rolling in come early afternoon.

This isn’t the best weekend to venture into the high alpine, and if you decide to, be particularly cautious: Thunderstorms developing into snow will make trails slick and, really, just unpleasant. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for sunnier skies next weekend, and enjoy what we can of this one!
