At mile four, reach 7,001-foot Redwood Mountain and descend a ridge 2.6 miles through towering trees.

Driving From CA 198 and CA 180, take CA 198 3.4 miles east to FR 14S75. Turn right and go 1.8 miles to the trailhead.
