Appeals Court Upholds Uranium Mining Ban at Grand Canyon
The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reaffirmed a 20-year ban on mining in one area while also allowing an existing mine to stay.

This week, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s ruling to maintain a 20-year ban on new uranium mining on public lands near the Grand Canyon. The same court also struck down a challenge to the existing Canyon Mine, located 6 miles south of the national park boundary.
