Ready to enjoy cooler fall weather? Take a hike to the top of Springer Mountain! Springer Mountain is the southern terminus the famous Appalachian Trail, and we’ll hike up to it (and back) from Three Forks. A few fall colors may be beginning to show, so we can hope for some nice autumn views of the North Georgia Mountains.
We’ll start at the trailhead at Three Forks. We’ll follow the white blazes on the Appalachian Trail southbound through a canopy of rhododendron and pines to Rich Mountain. Then onward to the summit at Springer Mountain where we will take a nice rest for lunch, conversation, and the stunning views. We’ll then head back to Three Forks via both the Appalachian Trail, as well as the Benton MacKaye Trail.
