A trio of thru-hiking brothers from the Tahoe area survived a close call earlier this summer after lightning struck them on the Pacific Crest Trail near Skykomish, Washington. One brother was tossed 15 feet by the force of the strike and lost consciousness; all three hiked 60 more miles to medical attention. They are all still on the trail.
