Cost: $10 park entry (registration required)

Details: From Curry Point we will hike to Rock City before descending into leafy Sycamore Canyon and then ascending Black Hawk Ridge for lunch. Then we head over to the Knobcone Point area and intriguing Balancing Rock before making our way back to the trailhead along a ridge with expansive views of Mt. Diablo and North Peak. Allow 5.5 hours for this 8.25 mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 1600 feet. Steady relaxed pace with a 30-minute lunch and other rest breaks. Be prepared for mud and poison oak.

Cost: Park entry fee $10 per vehicle

Signup Instructions: No reservations are necessary.

Bring: Layered clothing, sturdy hiking shoes, lunch and water

Signup Restrictions: Park regulations prohibit alcoholic beverages.

Additional Directions: Take 24 East, 680 South, El Cerro exit, left on El Cerro, at light straight which becomes Diablo Rd., left on Mt. Diablo Scenic Blvd. which becomes South Gate Rd. Curry Point is 3/4 mile beyond Rock City on the right. Allow extra time on State Park roads due to bicycle traffic safety regulations.
