Delaware is located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. Most of Delaware is very flat — the highest point in the state, Ebright Azimuth, is only 448 feet. However, rolling hills in the Piedmont Plateau cover the northern edges of the state.
A long sand beach dotted with bays, tidal creeks and marshes stretches along the state’s shoreline from the border with Maryland north to the mouth of Delaware Bay.
The editors at Backpacker have created an extensive collection of popular trails and trips for hiking and backpacking Delaware.
