South Fork Meadows via South Fork Trail: Hike to a lush meadow with a waterfall and flowing stream on this recently reopened trail in the high country of the San Bernardino Mtns. Moderate 7 mi R/T, 1500' gain hike through a recently burned, rejuvenating forest up to 8,400 feet. We will see first hand nature's restoration proccess and the forest rebirth circle, with new flowers, grasses, plants, open sky, and expansive views, after a fire burned a good chunk of this area two years ago. Bring 3 qts water, hat, sunscreen, good traction shoes, lunch, snacks, and ten essentials. This is a high altitude hike, no beginners please. This is a permit hike with limit of 12, RSVP to leader required to ensure a spot. Optional visit to nearby Jenks lake and dinner afterwards. Meet at 8 am at the North OC Carpool Point, or 10am at the South Fork Trailhead (directions provided). Est hike end time 4:00pm. Leader: Charles G. Geller (eduright@aol.com).
