Residents Flee Yosemite-Area Wildfire

The Detwiler Fire forced thousands to evacuate their homes in Mariposa County this week.

About 4,000 people evacuated their homes in the Mariposa area near Yosemite National Park this week as the Detwiler Fire approached the area. Many residents posted eerie images of the blaze to social media before leaving town. The wildfire had burned more than 45,000 acres and was 7 percent contained as of Wednesday.
