Officials Asking Anglers to Release Larger Trout

Unusually cold waters along the Georgia coast prompted the request to protect state trout populations.

Officials with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division have asked anglers to voluntarily release all spotted sea trout longer than 18 inches. Water temperatures in state estuaries have been unusually cold this winter, prompting the request--meant to protect larger spawning trout and boost next year's population.
