Group: Appalachian Mountain Club
When: Saturday, August 5, 9:30 am
Where: Blue Mountain Reservation, Peekskill, NY
Join me for a 10-mile hike on the Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill at an easy/moderate pace (6 in the woods/4 on the streets). We'll be traveling on mostly carriage roads and gravel paths that are poorly marked, while dodging crazy mountain-bikers. There will be two 600 ft. peaks to climb with super-nice views of the Hudson Valley. Four miles of the hike will be on Peekskill streets bouncing between the train station, various brew pubs, and the hip Division Street bars. Not for beginners or those with evening plans in NYC (we will not rush). Please bring water, lunch, hiking boots (or robust sneakers), and snacks. Heavy steady rain cancels. Expect a late-ish night, with a sane start beginning with the 9:43 AM Metro North Train to Peekskill. Drivers meet in the Peekskill Station parking lot at 10:45 AM. Meet me next to the Clock at the Information Booth in Grand Central at 9:30 AM. We'll sit in the first car. Please register with Patrick the leader at firstname.lastname@example.org.
