One wild coast remains in South Florida, a place where flocks of snowy egrets and white ibis can still obscure the sun, and dolphins and manatees may shadow your canoe. It is a wet landscape, a maze of mangroves and windswept bays, islands and mud flats, where the water is half fresh, half salt. The Wilderness Waterway, a 99-mile long canoe route, follows this pristine shore along the western edge of Everglades National Park.
