California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials confirmed last week that three wolf pups discovered in the Lassen National Forest are descendants of the famous OR-7 gray wolf. OR-7, a wandering collared wolf, became the first wolf in western Oregon since the ’30s and the first wolf in California since 1924. He found a mate in 2014 and produced several litters of pups in southwestern Oregon; one of his sons fathered the Lassen pups this year.
