In years past, the National Park Service has held a number of fee-free days to mark holidays such as Veterans' Day, National Park Week, and National Public Lands Day--a total of 16 free days in 2016 and 10 days in 2017. But next year, fee-free days have been slashed to just four. This news comes on the heels of a proposal to hike entry fees at major national parks in 2018, prompting criticism.
