New State Park Proposed for Brooklyn

Gov. Cuomo announced plans for a 407-acre park on Jamaica Bay with biking, hiking, and kayaking options.

Governor Andrew Cuomo proposed the creation of new state park on Jamaica Bay in Brooklyn during his State of the State address; the project would be in partnership with the National Park Service. The site, a former landfill area that has never been open to the public, would feature hiking, biking, and water recreation.
