The town of Darrington sits 25 miles from Glacier Peak, which is considered a volcano with a "very high risk" of erupting by the U.S. Geological Survey. But the peak has only one seismometer, despite years of discussion about adding more monitoring equipment. So Darrington locals have been pushing the U.S. Forest Service to move ahead over objections from some groups about the impact such tools would have on the wilderness.
