Maine Biologists Propose 20% Increase in Moose Hunting Permits

Maine wildlife biologists have proposed a 20-percent increase in moose hunting permits for 2018, to 2,500 from 2,080 in 2017. They argue that the boost will help maintain a healthy moose population because a high density of animals can lead to problems with parasites and reproduction rates.
