Kaibab Lake, Williams District

Kaibab Lake, in the Williams Ranger District, where YCC volunteers worked this summer.

One crew of 17- and 18-year-olds worked with archeology and fire crews to thin trees, then removed invasive crayfish. Another crew took out unneeded fencing and learned map reading and GPS skills. Both of them were part of the Youth Conservation Corps, a program coordinated through the Arizona Conservation Corps—and, all told, they contributed 2,410 hours of work to Kaibab National Forest.
