Hikers Rescued from Too-Deep Snow at Snow Lake

Search & Rescue crews helped two unprepared hikers who got into trouble in the Central Cascades' early-season snowpack.

Snow Lake is right. King County officials rescued a pair of hikers who attempted to make it to the Central Cascades’ Snow Lake without snowshoes on Monday. Reportedly, they lost traction in the deep June snow and their feet became “cold and wet.” An SAR team brought them to safety with the help of loaner snowshoes and fresh pairs of socks.
