Field Museum Scientists Help Protect 2 Million Acres of Peruvian Rainforest

Field Museum Conservation Ecologist Corine Vriesendorp has been fighting to protect a remote Peruvian rainforest for 15 years--and last week, the efforts of her team finally paid off with the announcement of the creation of a new national park, Parque Nacional Yaguas. The new park preserves a biodiverse stretch of rainforest along a tributary of the Amazon River, home to several indigenous groups.
