Residents Evacuated as Eastern Washington Wildfires Grow

Three fires near Wenatchee have grown to more than 23,000 acres.

The Sutherland Canyon, South Wenas, and Spartan Fires prompted immediate evacuations for people living in the threatened areas around Wenatchee and Yakima this week. Hot, windy weather plus heavy grass growth continue to feed the blazes, challenging firefighters.
