Several groups, including the Environmental Protection Agency and the Navajo Nation, are protesting the Bureau of Land Management's planned auction of mineral rights within a mile of Great Sand Dunes National Park. Among the concerns: environmental damage in the sensitive ecosystem and the fact that the Navajo consider two peaks in the area to be sacred.
