Since 1985, there have been no California condors born in the wild—until recently. Condor 538 (known as Miracle) and Condor 574 (known as Nomad) are now proud parents to a new chick (name and number TBD), and they’ve made their nest deep in the Big Sur hills. There are now 276 California condors in the wild.
