Boreas Plan Would Add 11,000 Acres to High Peaks Wilderness

New York's plan also expands snowmobile access, but nixes proposed bike trails and luxury huts.

The Cuomo administration released a plan for the Adirondacks’ Boreas Ponds Tract last week that would add 11,000 acres to the High Peaks Wilderness. The compromise plan would also expand snowmobile access in the area, but proposals to add mountain biking trails and a luxury hut-to-hut system didn’t make the final cut. The Adirondack Park Agency is expected to approve the plan.
