Group: Washington Trails Association
When: Thursday, September 14, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Blanca Lake
Spend a day on the splendid Blanca Lake Trail, a jewel in the Henry M Jackson Wilderness! We'll hike up the switchbacks and work on enhancing sections of tread, brushing, drainage and fixing any trail damage. You can’t ask for a better setting: A steep, switchbacking climb through forest that ends within view of the rugged cliffs of Monte Cristo, Kyes, and Columbia Peaks. At the 3 mile point, you reach 4600 feet, the highest point of the trail, and enter the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. Virgin Lake, small and shallow, is close by amid meadows and trees. The Columbia Glacier is 3/4 mile long and sits in the trough above deep, ice-fed Blanca Lake.
The trail head for Blanca Lake is currently INACCESSIBLE due to a washout. Meet at the junction of FR 65 & FR 63 (currently gated). 47.890, -121.332
